The events of 9/11 in 2001 profoundly changed the world. Inspired by the need to protect money flows from fuelling financial crime and terrorist attacks, Edwina dedicated herself to this cause.

Today, Edwina is a world-leading expert on cross-border money, aid, and trade flows. With over 20 years' frontline experience, she has advised governments, multilateral institutions, law enforcement, and financial institutions on managing risks where informal systems and formal banking intersect. She has led secure payments initiatives in some of the world’s most operationally challenging contexts (e.g. Afghanistan, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Somalia, Syria, Yemen) to support traceable and inclusive financial systems. Her work enables auditable flows of public and private money where formal financial infrastructure is weak. She holds a PhD in Law and has published widely on illicit finance and governance in fragile states.

Informed by her book "Trust is the Coin of the Realm" (Oxford University Press), Edwina's TEDx talk "What the War on Terror Taught Me" was voted one of YouTube's favourite TEDx talks of 2015. Earlier in her career, she served as a Reserve Officer in the Royal Navy, and held part-time roles at Goldman Sachs, McCann Erickson, and Accel Partners.

John is an entrepreneur who knows how to facilitate the design and implementation of strategy and complex projects.​ 

He started in 1965 as an agricultural scientist, leading radical new farming practices in conservative established and developing markets.​ He then went onto management roles within marketing and communications, including co-founding an Australian advertising agency.

In 1989, he founded the strategy consultancy Beechwood International, and led numerous transformational projects in the pharma, FMCG, financial services, technology, agribusiness and public/non-profit sectors.​

Together with Edwina, they supported Médecins Sans Frontières to deliver a landmark clinical trial that redefined multidrug-resistant tuberculosis treatment options.

He authored the book 'Caught in the Rip: Cutting across conventional wisdom to make wise decisions'.
